Ok, it feels like I blinked and now it is Thanksgiving next week. How did that happen? Last thing I remember is going to Europe...
Well, October came and went. Hard to believe a person could be this busy... but work has picked up and so has everything else now that operation Holidays 2009 is in full swing! That's right, I am making a list and checking it twice. Or something like that...
Well, I went to have a little Halloween fun with Jen and her girls. I decided to dress up like a Hogwarts student which was good because it was cold and rainy and there I was snuggly warm!
That's right, got those kickin' glasses at the HP book 6 midnight launch! Yes, that makes me a tool. Who cares?!? :)
Lets see, Oct highlights were fun times at Halloween, getting 4 layouts picked up by Scrapbook News & Reviews, and getting invited to go to Key West with work.
Just like that it was November and somehow I ended up even more crazy-busy than in October, but I can't complain, I was having fun too after all.
I had never been to Key West before so this would be exciting and we would be there for a week. So I packed my bags and off I went. And of course, like all good things, it ended way to quickly. So here's the Cliff Notes version:
We stayed at the Parrot Key Resort
Then I got to go deep sea fishing one day... But man were the seas rough! The guides were saying 8-10ft seas. I have never had any problems with sea-sickness before, but this pushed me over the edge! Yes, I gave my lunch back, but I caught what they called a Grand Slam! A Wahoo, a Bull Dolphin Fish (not a porpoise) and a Sailfish.
Check out my sweet fishing hat... and what to do about the lucky shirt... does that ever get washed? :)
Thanks to my boss David for holding my fish. I don't hold dead fish... I would like to say that the sailfish is once again swimming freely in the warm waters of the Atlantic or Gulf (whichever it likes better). We didn't keep any of those, they went back in the water almost as soon as we got the hook out. That made me happy. I wouldn't want to kill such an amazing fish. In fact, I would have been satisfied throwing them all back, but we needed fish to cook on Wed when we had a dinner for our customers. Thankfully I kept those two fish or we wouldn't have eaten much!
Oh, and just in case you haven't ever been to Key West, they have wild roosters just roaming about... seriously! I didn't know what to think about that.
Ok to switch gears, I have really been into Blurb recently. If you haven't ever thought about making books for gifts, seriously, take a peak at Blurb.com. I have Blurb fever right now. Finally sent in my Breast Cancer 3-Day book from last year and got it back. Wow!! That is so cool! I loved it so much, I sent in to have a small Key West book done and am in the process of uploading my Europe book right now! Wanna check out what I did at Blurb, go here.
Since I have decided to go out this year as an over-achiever, I also wanted to share with you a super-cool knitting book I came across. I am secretly a closet knitter who wishes she had super knitting powers. Oh well, that comes with time. I am a big fan of the blog over at Purl Bee (a knitting store in NYC). Well, the owner wrote a book called Last-Minute Knitted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson. Some really nice projects that aren't overly complicated and just pretty to look at.
Last, but certainly not least, I am very proud to report that Ms. Bindi made her Canine Good Citizen test today, so she now holds an AKC intermediate obedience certificate! You may now address her as Bindi Bee Good, C.G.C. (or "Ms. Good if your nasty" - thanks Janette Jackson, I won't ever stop using that lyric!) We are all terribly proud of here and much cooing was done after she finished this morning. Monday I will send off for the certificates and soon she just might start her C.D. work... (companion dog or AKC Advanced) but that will be terribly hard! We'll see!
So that's it really... off to work on my scarf (with yummy baby alpaca and merino wool) and patiently sit by the mail to get my books from Blurb!
Bee good!
